Five College New Music Festival

The Five College New Music Festival invites submissions by composers under the age of 35 of scores for soprano and instrumental accompaniment. The winning work will receive a cash prize of $1000 and will be played by performance faculty of the Five Colleges during the Festival, September 6-8 at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. The winning composer is expected to attend. Instrumentation may include up to three instruments chosen from: flute, clarinet, horn, saxophone, violin, cello, piano, and percussion. The length of the work should not exceed fifteen minutes, with duration indicated on the score. Submissions should be sent to: Prof. Eric Sawyer, Composition Submissions, Arms Music Center, Amherst College, Amherst, MA 01002. Materials may also be submitted by pdf to with the subject heading: Composition Submissions. Applications should include a score, recording (optional), and an information sheet containing the name, address, phone, email, date of birth, and short biography of the composer. (A SASE should be enclosed if you wish scores to be returned.)
