Art Song Collaborative Project 2019 - Call for Proposals

Art Song Collaborative Project
International Opera 2019

Fourth annual call for proposals for the Art Song Collaborative Project:
This year our International Opera will be exploring the idea of: Rethink, Recycle and Revalue. We often disregard objects as garbage when they break, live out their usefulness or become ugly. Yet a person might find our “garbage” and with a little bit of imagination and love turn it into something better. And so this object transforms beyond anything we could have ever dreamed.
We will select 3 International composers who will be collaborating with Canadian artists in the creation of a new Opera. Each composer will be writing one piece exploring the ideas mentioned above.

The pieces must be written for any combination of:

Soprano AND Piano
Baritone Violin

* Percussion won’t include any keyboard instruments and priority will be given to imaginative writing that uses found objects/recycled objects as percussion instruments. Some restrictions may apply.

The International Opera will have three performances in Ontario Canada: London, Kitchener and Toronto on July 2019 (date TBD).
