Key City Winds Woodwind Quintet Composition Competition

Key City Winds Woodwind Quintet Composition Competition
This competition seeks to identify talented composers who identify as female. There is no application fee.

Winner - One composer will have their work premiered by the Key City Winds on January 27, 2019, and receive an audio and a video recording of the work. Provided reasonable travel arrangements can be made, we will assist with travel costs to facilitate a residency at Abilene Christian University (to include the premiere).

Runner(s)-Up - Up to 3 runners-up will have their pieces recorded by KCW and receive audio recordings of their piece.

Eligibility and Guidelines:
All composers must identify as female and be either: 1. A currently registered student, of any degree level, in a music program in the United States as of the time of submission, or 2. Under the age of 35.

Instrumentation: flute (and/or alto flute or piccolo), oboe (and/or English Horn), clarinet (and/or bass clarinet), bassoon, horn in F.

All submitted pieces must not have been premiered in a public recital in Texas. Reading sessions and master-classes are acceptable, provided that if your work is selected, we can list our performance as a world premiere or Texas premiere.
New arrangements/transcriptions of your own works are acceptable provided they have not been performed in that version before.

Pieces must be at least 3 minutes in length but no longer than 7 minutes. Should the piece be longer than 7 minutes, it may limit how much of your work we are able to program should your work be selected.

Submission Format and Deadline:
Works must be submitted in one document, score and parts, in PDF format to by 5pm CST November 25, 2018. Please include in a separate PDF a brief bio and resume.

OGG/MP3 audio files of submissions are highly encouraged but not required. We will read through each piece when determining the winners.
