ilSUONO Contemporary Music Week is an summer composition academy that takes place annually in Città di Castello, Italy, celebrating excellence in composition, contemporary performance, and electronic music. Its core objective is to provide emerging composers with a unique forum in which they polish musical skills through private instruction and composition seminars with renowned composers from elite institutions, and have performance opportunities by highly skilled new music instrumentalists for quality portfolio built up.

Any composer is eligible to apply regardless of age.

Through the online application form, composers should submit permanent links (Dropbox or Google Drive) to:
° DETAILED CV and BIO (max 200 words) (.pdf) in English, combined in one file
° HQ ARTISTIC PHOTO (.jpeg) to be used in case of acceptance
° TWO RECENT WORKS [scores (.pdf) and recordings (.mp3)] of any instrumentation

Note1: For Category A: At least one work with electronics is required.
Note2: At least one recording is required. Midi recordings are not acceptable.

In the application form, the applicant will be asked to choose the category
[CATEGORY A: Mixed Media or CATEGORY B: Acoustic]
for which s/he would like to be considered and the instrumental line-ups for which s/he would be interested in writing.

The selection committee will consist of:
Yan Maresz, Georgia Spiropoulos, ensemble Suono Giallo, Niki Lada, Giacomo Piermatti, and Theocharis Papatrechas.

Selected applicants will be notified by December 25, 2018.

15 composers will be selected:
-12 Fully-Active Participants (6 for CATEGORY A: Mixed Media & 6 for Category B: Acoustic)
-3 Partially-Active Participants

CALL FOR SCORES: Quartetto Ascanio
After the completion of the selection process, all 15 participants will have the opportunity to participate in an internal call-for-scores, to which they will be asked to submit existing works for string quartet. The members of this year's guest ensemble, quartetto Ascanio, will review the applications and proceed to a selection of 3-4 works. The selected works will be rehearsed during the forum and performed at the quartet's concert on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.

PUBLISHING OPPORTUNITY: AltrEdizioni Casa Editrice
At the end of the forum, one or two from the 12 Fully Active participant works will be selected to be published by the Italian publishing house:
