Graphica Nova Music Festival 2019 call for scores

Composers all over the world are invited to submit their original graphic or improvisation scores for Graphica Nova Music Festival 2019 in Frankfurt am Main. There is no age restriction for participating composers. Various ways of graphic notation are welcome.
The pieces should be scored for violin solo or electric violin solo with amplification without additional electronic components.

The pieces should explore various forms of music making by means of graphic notation and/or improvisation in free stylistic idioms. Text scores are also welcome. New ways of musical notation are at the emphasis to be explored at Graphica Nova Music Festival 2019. The violin as solo instrument offers multiple effective means of musical and artistic expression to translate graphic notation or text into sound of innovation and freedom. A free personal approach to music and musical expression in the compositional works is appreciated.

There is a submission fee of 25 Euros for each work submitted. Multiple submissions of scores by one composer are permitted.

Works selected for Graphica Nova Music Festival 2019 get included in the program and will be performed and recorded by Patrick Ananta Sutardjo, an expert in contemporary music and interpretation of graphic notation. The selected composers will receive a high quality CD studio recording of their works.

Only when the submission fee is fully received works submitted via eMail are in the process of consideration for selection for performance and recording in the festival.

Expiration date of entry is 31. August, 2019. The concert series will take place in the middle of October 2019 in Frankfurt am Main.

The jury reserves the rights to not select a piece to be included in the program of the festival if standards of quality and good playability are not met.
