John Cage Tribute Composition Competition 2019

Composers from all around the world are called to submit original works for ensemble or solo instrument to the John Cage Composition Competition 2019. There is no age restriction for eligibility to participate in the competition.

Works should be scored for solo instrument, a selection (small ensemble) or all of the instruments (ensemble) listed below:

Piano
Keyboard
Recorder
Electronic Percussion
Violin
Saxophone
Clarinet
E-Bass
E-Guitar

Works submitted will be considered for originality and free personal approach to musical composition. There are no stylistic guidelines or restrictions for the works to be considered for selection. Works with electronics are permitted.

The jury will look at the submissions and will choose a selection of works of composers to be winners of the competition for the John Cage Tribute Composition Competition 2019.

The Winning works will be performed in a concert series in Frankfurt am Main and recorded professionally digitally mastered in the multi track digital recording studio. The winning composers will receive an official certificate of the prize they won in the John Cage Tribute Composition Competition 2019 and a digitally mastered high quality studio recording of their work.

Works can be handwritten, graphic, photographic, text scores or set by notation software and should be submitted together with the full name of the composer and a written and signed statement of confirmation that the composer permits unconditional performance and recording of his/her original work in the John Cage Tribute Composition Competition 2019 as pdf via eMail to: patrick.sutardjo@web.de

The entry fee of 25 Euros is to be payed via paypal. By receiving your entry submission we contact you with a paypal invoice eMail for you to be able to pay the entry fee for the competition by paypal. Alternatively payment can be made by credit card, debit card or money transfer such as Western Union to bank account. If requested, account details for entry fee payment will be provided to the composer by eMail. Only when the full entry fee has been paid composers' works are eligible for consideration for selection by the jury.

Multiple submissions are also permitted for entry. If more than one work is entered, payment of the entry fee is to be made individually for each respective work entered in the John Cage Tribute Composition Competition 2019 for consideration for selection.

The Deadline for submission is July 31, 2019.

The jury reserves the rights to not select and award a musical work if standards of quality and playability are not met.
