Composition and Percussion Masterclass

Pietrasanta (Tuscany, Italy), September 3rd to September 8th, 2019

The association “ACM Giulio Rospigliosi” proposes a double Masterclass for composers and percussionists in the beautiful city of Pietrasanta, Italy. The works of the Composition students will be performed during the final concert by the class of Percussion. Connection between the new works and the landscape and local culture of Pietrasanta will be encouraged and the Composition students will be invited to explore the surroundings together with the teachers.

The Masterclass is open to anyone without limits of age. The lessons will take place in the Teatro Sant'Antonio or in the Convento di San Francesco, both in Pietrasanta. The participation fee, which is € 475, includes board and lodging in Pietrasanta (either in the Foresteria of the Teatro di Sant'Antonio or in the Convento di San Francesco) from dinner of September 3rd to lunch of September 7th. Bathing facilities during all the course.

The deadline for registration is August 1st, 2019. In order to take part to the masterclass please submit a request of participation to Luca Torregiani [] and attach the registration module and proof of payment of the registration fee of € 50. The registration fee will be returned only if the course doesn't take place. The participation fee of € 475 is due only at the beginning of the course. GIOVANNI BONATO was born in Schio in 1961. He has studied Composition with F. Vacchi, A. Guarnieri, and G. Manzoni at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan. As a composer of chamber, choral, and symphonic pieces he has distinguished himself both in the national and in the international field. He was awarded in several competitions and prizes, of which the following are worth mentioning: “G. d’Arezzo” (1986/87/89/92/97/2002/2005), “A. Casella” in Siena (1987/89), “Città di Trieste” (1986/88), “I.C.O.N.S.” (1989/92), “A. Pedrotti” in Trient (1990), “Gaudeamus” in Amsterdam (1989/91), “Olympia” in Athens (1989/90), “G. Nickel, AVA Musical Editions.
In 1993 Casinos Austria commissioned him an opera “Auxele”, for the “Wiener Int. Kw.”(1995). The “Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto” (artistic director Mario Brunello) has designated him composer in residence during the “Stagione Concertistica 2002-2003”. Since 1992 he teaches Composition at the “Cesare Pollini” Conservatory of Padua.

ANNUNZIATA KIKI DELLISANTI studied piano, composition and percussion in the Conservatory of Venice, and since 1991 is Percussion teacher in the same Conservatory. She is a founder of Ex Novo Ensemble, one of the most important Italian contemporary music ensembles; since 1984 together with Ex Novo she took part to festivals such as Gaudeamus (Amsterdam), Akademie der Kunst (Berlin), Aspekte Salzburg, Academie de France (Rome), Warsaw Autumn, La Biennale (Venice), Musica del nostro tempo (Milan) etc. She founded Ripercussioni, an association which promoted new music in Venice from 1990 to 2005. In 2006 she founded the Centro Veneto Donne in Musica which is active in many European projects focused on women in music. Beside her activity as a performer she is also musicologist: she published many articles and essays, mainly about the history of percussion instruments and the history of women in music.
