INMC Ensemble Call For Scores / Composition Competition

CALL FOR SCORES AND COMPOSITION COMPETITION

The Ithaca New Music Collective is a group of musicians in Ithaca, NY dedicated to representing the diversity of the composers that are affiliated with the Ithaca community. INMC regularly performs works written by composers from Ithaca College, Cornell University, and residents of Ithaca. The collective strives to bring this music into the Ithaca community and beyond. The INMC Ensemble was founded in 2018 with the goal of presenting new works for ensemble by local composers.

This year the ensemble is conducting a national call for scores. Three works will be selected for the ensemble’s annual “Ghostly Gathering” Halloween concert on October 28th, 2019 in Ithaca, NY. The winning composer will be announced at the concert and will receive a $300 prize.

Who can apply: Composers of any age living in the US, or students in a US degree program.

Duration: Preference will be given to works that are between 5 to 12 minutes in duration.

Instrumentation:

Mezzo Soprano (for more information see www.caitlinmathes.com )
Flute/piccolo/alto flute/bass flute (1 player)
Oboe/English horn (English Horn including B flat extensions)
Trombone
Percussion (vibraphone and a 4.3 octave marimba available)
Violin
Double Bass (no C extension)

a. Any subset of the ensemble can be submitted, although preference will be given to works utilizing the full ensemble
b. Additional electronics / media is accepted

Applicants are expected to attend one rehearsal either in person or via Skype.

Travel: Ithaca can be reached directly via bus running multiple times daily from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC, or by air service from Detroit, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Bus service is also available from Toronto, Ontario, Buffalo NY, and Rochester, NY. INMC cannot offer travel stipends at this time. Selected composers will be provided with local accommodations in Ithaca.
