Summer 2019 Call for Scores - PARMA Recordings

We are currently accepting submissions for:

  • Works for Orchestra (with or without soloists) - Glasgow, Scotland
  • Works for Chamber Ensemble or Chamber Opera - Athens, Greece
  • Live Recordings of Orchestral Works
  • GUIDELINES

    Please submit PDF scores and audio examples via our Project Submission form.

    Selected scores will be recorded and commercially released by PARMA Recordings; selected live recordings will be mastered and commercially released by PARMA Recordings. The submitter is responsible for securing funds associated with the production and release and retains all ownership of the master and underlying composition.

    Works should ideally be between 5 and 15 minutes in length, but pieces outside of that range will still be considered.

    Deadline for all submissions is September 6, 2019. There is no fee to submit.

    You will receive a confirmation of receipt for submissions. We will work with the performers and our Sessions, Audio, and A&R Teams to select pieces that could fit these open projects. Should your music be selected, we will reach out to you with more information on pricing, scheduling, and other details.

    1. ROYAL SCOTTISH NATIONAL ORCHESTRA
    Glasgow, Scotland

    PARMA will be recording an album of new works for orchestra with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

    Formed in 1891 as the Scottish Orchestra, the group became the Scottish National Orchestra in 1950, and was awarded Royal Patronage in 1977. Throughout its history, the Orchestra has played an integral part in Scotland’s musical life, including performing at the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament building in 2004. Many renowned conductors have contributed to its success, including George Szell, Sir John Barbirolli, Walter Susskind, Sir Alexander Gibson, Neeme Järvi, Walter Weller, Alexander Lazarev, and Stéphane Denève.

    The RSNO performs across Scotland, including concerts in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth, and Inverness. The Orchestra appears regularly at the Edinburgh International Festival, the BBC Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and the St Magnus Festival, Orkney, and has made recent tours to the United States of America, Spain, France, China, and Germany. The RSNO has a worldwide reputation for the quality of its over 200 releases, receiving two Diapason d’Or de l’année awards for Symphonic Music, and eight GRAMMY Award nominations.

    2. ERGON ENSEMBLE
    CHAMBER WORKS OF VARIOUS INSTRUMENTATION
    Athens, Greece

    PARMA will be recording new works for various chamber ensemble arrangements with Ergon Ensemble in Athens, Greece, towards an upcoming album. Selected pieces on this upcoming album will be performed in concert by Ergon Ensemble on a date or dates following the recording sessions.

    Ergon is an Athens-based contemporary music ensemble created in 2008 for performing works by living composers as well as masterpieces of 20th and 21st-century avant-garde music. Noted for its exciting interpretations and meticulous preparation, it has received praise from critics and audiences alike, making it the leading ensemble of its kind in Greece. An extremely flexible and versatile ensemble, Ergon is based on a core formation that is further reinforced, depending on the project, by a great number of guests and exceptionally talented musicians.

    Directed by a five-member musician team responsible for planning and collaborations, Ergon’s original and adventurous programming includes chamber and orchestral music, musical theatre works, dance, contemporary opera, and cinema.

    3. CALL FOR LIVE RECORDINGS

    PARMA is inviting artists to submit their live orchestral recordings for release on a full multi-composer album of live orchestral works.

    The live performance is special. The energy captured in the recording of these performances gives life to the listening experience in a way that stands out from studio recordings. With the Call for Live Recordings, PARMA is proud to bring these harnessed moments of the musical past into the present, with all the elements that make them unique as living, breathing performances. Selected recordings will be edited by PARMA’s post-production team and released under one of the PARMA labels.
