2019 Kottos Composition Competition

Announcing the inaugural Kottos International Composition Competition in 2019! Duo Kottos are calling on composers to submit new and original works for guitar and cello duo.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:

-Composers of all ages and nationalities may participate.

-It is possible to apply with multiple pieces although the application fee must be paid for every entry submitted.

-Freshly composed works for guitar and cello duo only. Pieces must be between 5 and 10 minutes in length.

-The theme this year is "colours". Although it is not a requirement, preference will be given to works containing this theme.

-Electroacoustic music is not allowed.

-Duo Kottos will workshop and provide feedback for each submission.

-The jury reserves the right not to award all prizes.

-If the number of submissions is too low, Duo Kottos will postpone the competition and refund all those who have taken part.

-Winners will be announced by 6th January 2020.

-The decisions of the jury are final and may not be contested.

PRIZES:

-First prize will receive £500. Their work will be premiered at a London venue in 2020 and will be studio recorded. The work will be included in the Duo Kottos repertoire for the 2020 season.

-Three runner up prizes will be awarded, each of whom will have their piece premiered at a London venue in 2020 and will be studio recorded. Their compositions will also be added to the Duo Kottos repertoire for possible future performances.

-Composers will keep performing rights.

INSTRUCTIONS

-Visit www.duokottos.com and go to the 'Competition' tab

-Proceed with the application fee payment of £15 (by clicking “add to cart”) making sure to note your name and address.

-Email a PDF copy of the full score and parts of your composition and, if possible, a midi recording to duokottos@gmail.com

-Upon submission of both payment and composition entry you will receive a confirmation email stating that you have been entered.
