Sofia Symphonic Summit - Composition and Conducting

Dear composers,

My name is Alexandra Ivanova and I am writing to tell you about an opportunity for composers to have a work performed by the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra with the Sofia Symphonic Summit. We are currently accepting applications for accepted participants to have their original works performed with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, located in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.

There are 3 categories for which composers may submit:

Symphony Orchestra - 52 performers
Wind Symphony - 32 performers
Concerto - Soloists on any instrument plus 52 performers

The Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra has incredible 90 year history which has featured many prominent musicians and world premieres including: Dmitri Shostakovich, David Oistrakh, Svetoslav Richter, Emil Gilels, Shura Cherkasky, Annie Fischer, Sasha Popov, Konstantin Iliev, and Dobrin Petkov. Additionally, they have done recent projects with Robin Gibb / Bee Gees, a group Manowar, Jon Lord / Deep Purple, Sting, Il Divo, and Jose Carreras. We are fortunate to have Nayden Torodov, Director of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and Simeon Pironkoff, conductor and composer based at the Music and Performing Arts University of Vienna, Austria spearheading this exciting venture.

The Sofia Symphonic Summit invites all styles of contemporary composition, as the orchestra is excited to perform new works in any style and medium. Additionally, all composers will receive professional audio and video recordings of their works.

All composers will receive rehearsals and a dress rehearsal of their work prior to the premiere. The application officially closes on March 24th, however, priority will be given to composers who apply before January 5th, 2020. It should be noted that the application does not require the work that the composer would like to be performed. Compositions should reflect the composer's ability as an artist.

The dates of the program are: August 14th - 24th.
