New Century Improv Ensemble call for scores

The New Century improve! Ensemble (NCIE) is an ensemble of University of Oklahoma student performers and composers dedicated to the creation and performance of improvisatory music. This year, we are looking for nature themed pieces! All improvisatory scores that take their inspiration from a nature theme or setting are welcome! 2-4 works will be selected for possible programming on our Spring 2020 concert at the University of Oklahoma on April 21st. Selected composers are welcome but not required to attend the concert. Selected composers will receive an audio recording and video of the performance.

Please read through the submission guidelines and requirements below. Submissions that do not meet all of these guidelines will not be considered.


Pieces must be written for open instrumentation for no more than 7 performers.

Pieces should not exceed 10 minutes in length (pieces between 5-8 minutes are the most likely to be selected).

Pieces should be nature themed or inspired.

Composers should submit no more than two works for consideration. Additional works by the same composer will not be considered.

Submission Process:

Submissions should be sent to with the following subject format: Composer's last name, first name, title of the work, NCIE call for scores. (Example: Krumwiede, Nikki, On the Winds, NCIE call for scores).

In the body of the email, please include the approximate length of the composition and short program notes (no more than 200 words).

Please attach scores in pdf format, along with any additional performance materials.

Selected composers will be notified no later than February 29th, 2020.
