Choral Composition Competition - Nightingale House Hospice

Nightingale House Hospice invites composers to write a short song which we would like to hear performed during our 25th Anniversary year in 2020.

Nightingale House is an independent adult hospice based in Wrexham. We provide palliative care and well-being services for the people of North East Wales, Corwen, Bala and as far west as Barmouth.

The song should be uplifting and celebrate the work of the Hospice, dispelling the widely held myth that hospice care is only about dying.

We mainly focus on supporting and enabling people to live as well as they can despite the prospect of a shortened life. We do of course, also provide end-of-life care as well as post bereavement support.

By having a song of our own we can spread a message of hopefulness rather than hopelessness throughout the communities we serve.

No restrictions on age or nationality.

Any text in English or Welsh which portrays the sentiment of our work.

Written for a 3-part choir [SABar] or 4-part choir [SATB] – no divisi.

Entries will be judged anonymously by a panel of judges.

The entries will be judged by Charlotte Bailey, Music Director of the Hospice Choir, as well as Matthias Wurz, Music Director of Cantorion Rhos and Cor Glyndwr and an associate of the Hospice.
