LunART Festival

The LunART Festival mission is to support, inspire, promote, and celebrate women in the arts through public performances, exhibitions, workshops, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The LunART Festival 2020 Call for Scores is open to women composers of all ages and nationalities. Up to three works will be selected to be performed on one of our evening Gala concerts, and composers will receive a cash price of $200 along with a high-quality audio and video recordings of their composition. If they choose to come to the festival, selected composers will receive free housing, free entry into all festival events, and the opportunity to attend a rehearsal of their piece.

Instrumentation can range from one to six players, with a total piece length of less than fifteen minutes. Complete submission guidelines and a detailed list of available instruments can be found on our website. All submissions and $20 application fee must be received by February 1, 2020. Selected applicants will be notified by March 15, 2020.

Eligible participants:
Open to women composers
No age limit
Composers/performers will be considered​

Submitted works should be:
Under 15 minutes in length
Single or multi-movement work. In the case of multi-movement works, we reserve the right to play selections
Scored for one to six performers; available instruments, voice types, and ensembles are listed below
Written no earlier than January 1, 2015

Submissions must include:
PDF of score (please upload a PDF with the file name formatted as: lastname_compositiontitle.pdf)
Recording of submitted work
Provide URL link, i.e. Sound Cloud, YouTube (midi, mp3, or video)
Bio (100 words or less)
Program notes
Composer/performers only: a recording of the applicant performing must be submitted; acceptance as a performer is at the discretion of the festival

Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Submission Guidelines
All materials must be submitted no later than February 1, 2020, 11:59pm (Central Time)
Late submissions will not be accepted
All submitted fees are non-refundable
Files must be uploaded through the LunART Festival website during the submission period -
Applicants may submit multiple scores, but must complete a separate application for each submission
Up to three compositions will be selected; one work will be performed for each evening concert
We reserve the right to not program any compositions

Selected composers will receive:
A cash prize of $200
Performance of composition
Professional live audio & video recording of composition

If able to attend the festival, composers will receive:
Free housing
Free entry into all festival events
Rehearsal with musicians

Winners will be announced by March 15!

Any voice type, as a solo vocal part or a member of an ensemble.
