CALL FOR SCORES AND COMPETITION – SPRING CONCERT 2020, MAY 4th 2020

Entry Deadline: March 1st, 2020

Composers of all ages are invited to submit scores for INMC Ensemble’s second annual spring concert. The Ithaca New Music Collective is a group of musicians dedicated to representing the diverse sounds of contemporary composers while inspiring collaboration and conversation through new music. The Collective strives to cultivate new audiences through grassroots efforts for new music awareness and fair wages for all musicians and composers. The INMC Ensemble was founded in 2018 with the goal of presenting new works for the ensemble through commissions both locally and globally.

Who can apply: Composers of any age living in the US, or students currently studying in a US degree program.

Duration: Works should be between 3 to 12 minutes in duration.

At least five pieces will be selected for performance on the May concert. One composer will be awarded a $300 prize.

Instrumentation:
Voices (soprano and/or mezzo-soprano)
Flute/piccolo/alto flute/bass flute (1 player)
Oboe/English horn
Trombone
Percussion (vibraphone available)
Violin
Cello
Double Bass (no C extension)

• Any subset of the ensemble can be submitted. Preference will be given to works utilizing the full ensemble

b. Score and individual parts in PDF format
c. Recording/MIDI realization if available
d. Contact information: Name, email address, phone number
e. Composer Info: Photo/ headshot, Short and long versions of bio, Website or SoundCloud link

Applicants are expected to attend at least one rehearsal either in person or via Skype.

Travel: Ithaca can be reached directly via bus running multiple times daily from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC, or by air service from Detroit, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Bus service is also available from Toronto, Ontario, Buffalo NY, and Rochester, NY. INMC cannot offer travel stipends at this time. Selected composers will be provided with local accommodations in Ithaca.
