International NMF Composition Competition for Bb Clarinet miniature pieces in memory of Morton Feldman

International composers from all over the world are called to submit their pieces to the International NMF Composition Competition for Bb Clarinet miniature pieces in memory of Morton Feldman. Composers of any nationality and age are welcome to participate.

Pieces should be scored for solo Clarinet in Bb and have a duration from ca. 1 to a maximum of ca. 3 minutes.

Pieces can be stylistically free as to the personal expressive stylistic intentions of the composer which is appreciated. There are no stylistic preferences, however aesthetic quality, ethical impact and good playability are especially considered by the jury subjectively.

Submissions should include the score as pdf or jpeg file, short program note, statement of the composer that the piece is his/her original work and that Neue Musik Frankfurt is allowed to unconditionally perform the piece submitted. Pieces may or may not have been performed already.

Selected pieces will be performed at Raum für Neue Musik in Frankfurt am Main where the winners will be officially announced and their works introduced with regards to their submitted program notes. The winning composers will receive an official high quality certificate sent as MS Office document file stating the prize awarded to him/her and confirming performance of his/her piece in Frankfurt am Main by Neue Musik Frankfurt. Concert announcement and announcement of the winning composers will be made on the public Facebook Site of Neue Musik Frankfurt. There is no money prize awarded in this competition. It is possible that more than three winning prizes can be awarded because of shortness of the pieces.

Scores can be handwritten, computer scores or graphic, no preference is given to the respective presentation of the scores except in terms of good readability and good playibility.

The submission fee for entry of one piece into the competition is 25 Euros per piece. More than one piece can be submitted at wish. After receiving the complete submission composers will be sent to a Paypal invoice eMail by which they can pay the submission fee easily via Paypal.

Selection criteria are subjective by the jury and comprise among other criteria aesthetics, ethics, musical impact, good readability and good playability of the piece. The decision of selection of the winning pieces is subjective and unconditional on the side of the jury. There are no conditions on the side of the composer towards the free, subjective and unconditional selection of winning pieces by the jury.

NMF reserves all rights to not award pieces with a prize if the selection criteria are not met adequately as subjectively and unconditionally viewed by the jury.

The submission deadline for the International NMF Composition Competition for Bb Clarinet miniature pieces in memory of Morton Feldman is August 31, 2020. Pieces sent after this deadline cannot be considered anymore.

The winning composers will be directly notified via eMail after the submission deadline. Please note: Not winning composers will not be notified. The winning composers and their pieces will be officially publicly announced by Neue Musik Frankfurt on the Facebook Site of Neue Musik Frankfurt when the selection process by the jury is finished.
