Call for scores - Sewanee Summer Music Festival

Category 1

Instrumentation: youth symphony orchestra. The instrumentation may include up to:

2 flutes (1 doubling piccolo)
2 oboe (1 doubling English horn)
2 clarinet (1 doubling bass clarinet)
2 bassoon (1 doubling contrabassoon)
4 horns, 3 trumpets
3 trombones (3rd is bass trombone)
1 tuba
1 timpanist
2 percussion
harp
piano/celesta
strings

* Already premiered works will be considered.

Duration: 10’ or less.

Prize: a performance by one of the 2021 SSMF Orchestras (and multi-camera professional recording) during the 2021 edition of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. A full or partial scholarship will be available for the eligible winner(s).
Category 2

Instrumentation: chamber ensemble. Any combination of 2 or more the following instruments with or without electronics. The pieces can use a conductor.

Violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba, flute (piccolo), clarinet, oboe (English horn), bassoon, percussion piano, brass instruments.

* Already premiered works will be considered.

Duration: 10’ or less.

Prize: performance (and multi-camera professional recording) during the 2021 edition of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival by festival faculty or student fellowship ensemble
Application fee (for both categories)

$25 for the first submitted work. $10 for any extra submissions.

Deadline

Submission deadline August 1, 2020, with the winners announced in the fall.
