Walter Hussey Composition Competition (Young Composers aged 16-24)

As of today, 23rd June, there are SEVEN DAYS left to submit your entry (or entries! You are allowed two submissions) for this year's Walter Hussey Composition Competition.

Did we mention the £500 first prize? And the £200 second prize? Now you're interested!

So some reminders:
- This is a choral competition, to be premiered by Reading Phoenix Choir
- Your submission should be original and not previously performed or submitted elsewhere
- It should be for SATB to SSAATTBB (although solo lines from within the choir are allowed)
- It should be unaccompanied
- It will ideally be around 3 minutes or less (as Reading Phoenix Choir sing all our music off-copy and will need to memorise it!)
- The text may be original or pre-existing provided it is within the public domain (in the UK this means 70 years after the death of the author), or you may have already obtained permission from the copyright holder.

And then, crucially for 2020:
- This year's contest is specifically for youth composers, so you should be aged 16-24 on June 30th when the competition closes
- The theme is "New Horizons", which you may interpret as broadly as you like!

To enter, email a pdf and audio file (e.g. midi or mp3) to by June 30th.
