Sl(e)ight Ensemble: Call for Scores

Bay Area-based Sl(e)ight ensemble is accepting proposals for a new work reflecting on the Californian environment to be featured in their spring 2021 concert series, Of California Ecology.

The selected composer will:
-Receive a $300 commission
-A recording of their work
-Have their work featured in all of Sl(e)ight’s spring 2021 concerts

The piece may be written for any combination (trio, duo, or solo) of the following instruments:
-Flute (doubling piccolo)
-Alto saxophone (doubling soprano saxophone)
-Additionally, the piece may include electronic or electro-acoustic elements.

Interested artists should submit:
-A score (PDF) and link to audio or video recording of an existing representative work (midi is acceptable if a live recording is unavailable)
-A biography (PDF)
-A brief proposal describing the piece they would like to write for S(e)light (PDF). This should include: instrumentation, required equipment if they plan to incorporate electronics, a working title, and a description of how the piece pertains to the environment in California.
