POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mahidol University College of Music seeks an enthusiastic educator and composer to complement the current composition and theory team. The appointee(s) will teach standard undergraduate and graduate music theory and analysis courses in the curriculum for all majors, undergraduate composition concentration coursework, and graduate coursework for the D.M. and M.M concentrations in Composition and Theory. May teach other courses, depending on College needs and the candidate’s area of interest.

QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in Composition or Music Theory required at the time of employment (ABD will be considered but the candidate must demonstrate likely completion within one year of hire). Preference will be given to candidates with 1) Experience teaching applied composition, theory, counterpoint, orchestration, formal analysis, etc at the undergraduate/ graduate level; 2) Interest or experience in teaching theory of jazz/ popular music; 3) Evidence of compositional achievements (US-based and international conference participation, recordings with professional ensembles, awards and honors, etc.); 4) Record of organizational experience, especially in departmental functions, the coordination of festivals, conferences, etc.; and 5) publication in peer-reviewed music theory journals.

In 2012, MUCM hosted the Eighth Annual Thailand International Composition festival (www.ticf.co/) and is currently coordinating the Ninth Annual event for July 2013.
The College of Music has 1,064 students, including 267 pre-college students, 623 undergraduate students, 129 masters students, and 36 doctoral students, with 108 full time and 85 part time faculty, many of which are recognized nationally and internationally for their accomplishments as performers, composers and scholars in the profession, as well as for their commitment to teaching.
