A.I.R. Studio Paducah - for 2016-17 Applicants
A.I.R. Studio Paducah is located in the heart of LowerTown, Paducah, Kentucky, 6 blocks from the Ohio River and within walking distance of studios, galleries, performing arts and other music venues in Downtown Paducah. We welcome self-motivated, focused artists working in a range of traditional and non-traditional visual arts practices, architects, writers and composers. Residents are encouraged to have a clear objective for the time of their residency. The duration of the residencies range from two (2) weeks to three (3) months. Collaborative artists and couples are welcome to apply.
Opportunities: The A.I.R. Studio Paducah features a storefront gallery for exhibiting work while in residence. Opportunities to work in collaboration with other artists in the area are often available.
Professional Development: The residency affords the artist time and space for focused, independent work, the development of new ideas and experimentation. For artists, visits to LowerTown galleries and studios as well as short trips to regional arts facilities can open a range of networking possibilities. Paducah also boasts a small but eclectic music scene.
Teaching Experience: Artists may conduct a workshop (open to the public) during their residency.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Studio - The workspace features a large, open, sky-lit studio with ample wall space, worktables, a desk, ergonomic chair and wifi access. A rear entrance door accommodates large work.
Living Space includes a sleeping area, complete kitchenette, and bath w/shower. The space is snug but large enough to accommodate a couple or collaborative pair. Amenities include: washer, dryer and dishwasher. HV/AC and ceiling fans. Front entrance and interior doors are handicap accessible.
No smoking or pets.
A.I.R. Studio Paducah is managed on a not-for-profit basis. At this time, we are unable to provide financial support. Residency fee is $875 per month, or $550 for two weeks, inclusive of utilities. Transportation, materials, food and additional expenses are the responsibility of the artists.

3. Proposed length and dates of stay. List first, second and third choice preferences.
4. Work Samples
Visual artists: Portfolio of twelve (12) high resolution digital images in jpeg format with a list of works including title, media, dimensions and date. Resolution may be up to 170 dpi with a maximum file size of 3 MB.
Writers: Ten (10) pages of prose or five (5) poems.
Composers: Two (2) scores and to (2) files for listening.
Candidates are reviewed and recommended by a selection committee of community arts professionals. There are no educational requirements. Emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
