OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMPOSERS
The Sydney Contemporary Orchestra (SCO) invites composers of all nationalities and ages to submit their works for consideration by the SCO for performance in upcoming SCO concerts.

Category A
Full orchestra.
Standard instrumentation for full symphony orchestra (single, double and triple winds) (with or without soloist, solo voice, ethnic instruments)
Category B
Chamber orchestra.
Any unusual combination of symphony orchestra instrumentation (with or without soloist, solo voice, ethnic instruments)
Category C
String quartets. Standard string quartet
Category D
Wind quintets. Standard wind quintet
Category E
Solo instrument.
Solo works for any symphonic orchestral instrument.
Category F
Experimental works.
Works that evoke composers’ vivid imagination and boundless creativity.
Each category is specifically for compositions performed annually in Sydney, Australia.

Duration: No limit. (preference is between 5' - 15' ca)
Number of submissions: No limit (each work to be submitted on a separate form)
Style: Any style demonstrating high artistic value and compositional techniques:
Complex content
High level technical prowess
Displays Extensive musical knowledge
Noble sentiments
Passion for music

Submission fee: AU$70 per submission*.

There is no deadline for a score submission. Composers whose works are selected for SCO concerts will be notified by email and the works and composers name will be published on the SCO website.

Compositions not selected for the current year schedule will be kept by the SCO on file for future concert opportunities.

If your composition is selected and performed in any of our concerts, you will be automatically eligible for the SCO COMPOSER COMMISSIONING PROGRAM.

*Your score will be reviewed after the SCO has received your submission fee.
