University of Tennessee Contemporary Music Festival Call for Scores

University of Tennessee at Knoxville Contemporary Music Festival
October 20-25, 2015

Composition Competition

The School of Music at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville announces its inaugural Contemporary Music Festival to be held October 20-24, 2015 at the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center. In addition to five days of concerts, presentations, lectures, masterclasses, and internationally renowned guest artists, the festival is implementing a call for scores.

High School composers may submit scores of any style, instrumentation, or length for this call for scores. Scores conforming to the instrumentation of the University of Tennessee Contemporary Music Ensemble may be considered for performance, though this will have no bearing on the selection of winning pieces.

All submissions should be sent via email to UTKCMF2015CALL@utk.edu with the subject heading “UTKCMF Call for Scores 2015– Your Name.” Messages without this subject heading may not be received. They should include a Dropbox link (or similar filesharing link, no attachments will be accepted) to a folder with the following files:

1. A .pdf file of the score.
The score file must be labeled as follows:
lastname_firstname_title_score_UTKCMF2015CALL

2. An .mp3 recording if available, MIDI realizations are acceptable.
The recording file must be labeled as follows:
lastname_firstname_title_recording_UTKCMF2015CALL

Entrants must be currently enrolled high school students. Ten finalists will be chosen and the winner will receive a $500 scholarship to attend the University Of Tennessee School Of Music. The winner is required and all finalists are invited to attend the award ceremony where all will be recognized for their achievement. The deadline for submission is midnight Wednesday May 15, 2015, and applicants will be notified of the program committee's decision via email by June 15, 2015.
