Seeking three student-composers for a southern gothic musical set during the 1920’s. The narrative revolves around a man who hires a sideshow fortune teller to find who murdered his parents. As the show is virtually sung-through, we are distributing the music between each character. Five characters filled, seeking three more. In order of size:
- OLIVER, a catholic priest. Americana and Gospel.
- THE BOSS, a circus ringleader. Blues and Jazz.
- MONA, the African-American housekeeper. Thinking African percussion, though possibly ragtime.
In order to be considered, you must be located in or have access to New York City, be of college age, and currently enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate program, not necessarily in music. There is no immediate monetary compensation, though it is a great opportunity to produce new work, and there may be payment down the line. Must be prepared to begin writing immediately. Please send contact information and any samples of your music to firstname.lastname@example.org, along with any questions you may have.
