Hollywood Maestro Christopher Young will be will be teaching his fantastic, exciting and dynamic Film Scoring Program for the first time in Spain!

A once in a life time opportunity to meet, work and be mentored by Christopher Young. Classes are based around the importance of melody writing, focusing on main titles, main themes and how they are develop.

The program includes an 12 piece ensemble recording of your composition cue, Software Awards & Grammy Winner Special Guest Speaker.

Classes
The 4 day Christopher Young Film Scoring Program, Madrid is a unique and invaluable look at composing for screen. Christopher Young’s classes are based around the importance of melody writing, focusing on main titles, main themes and how they are developing.

Classes include improvisations to scenes as well as going through the different categorizations of scenes. This is something Christopher Young categorized himself mainly in the action and horror genre. All classes have handouts for multiple exercises and provide access to and use many of Christopher Young’s scores as reference and teaching materials that he has composed over the years.

Students are presented with positive criticism, opinion and creative direction during the classes. 10hrs - 17hrs daily.

Mentoring 1:1
A one-to-one professional career development mentoring session with Christopher Young, who will provide you with feedback, opinion and direction.

An opportunity to sit with a Hollywood A list composer, where you can share and listen to your music, discuss your musical style, your orchestrations, your compositions.

Talk about next step career options, get insights to the life of a composer in Hollywood, find out about agents/managers/publishers, and even get a review of your music and usable text quote or video quote, for your website. 19-21hrs

Once successfully completed, participants can focus on song form, creating a main theme, have best practices for faster composition methods, greater understanding of notation techniques and instrumentation selection and be able to locate, identify and use their creative insight

ONE
The 4 day 2017 Christopher Young Film Scoring Program in Madrid. All lesson plans, class resources, PDFs, Audio Visual class materials. Individual and group student photographs with Christopher Young. 1 of Christopher Young’s A2 scores from either SpiderMan 3 or HellRaiser. A Spanish-English speaking film composer assistant for Christopher Young. Daily classes from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm. 1 to 1 30 minute mentoring sessions for each student 7pm - 9pm. (larger class groups will have small group mentoring sessions 60 minutes each)

TWO
Your Compositional Cue written during the program will be recorded by an ensemble orchestra at Iron Giant Studios. A Desk Monitor Mix of your compositional cue, and students retain written, publishing and recording copyright for their material. Iron Giant Studios will be the host venue for the Film Scoring program.

THREE
Grammy Winning Special Guest live from LA will host a Q&A about the film music industry, getting a manager, publishers, agents and will share scoring examples from his new book.

FOUR
Native Instruments from LA are awarding KOMPLETE 11 (600€) as a prize for the 2017 Best Composition created on the Christopher Young Film Scoring Program, Madrid.

FIVE

If a student cancels his or her participation before July 1st 2017, the tuition fee will be fully refundable.

If a student cancels his or her participation after July 1st 2017, the tuition fee will be non refundable.

If the program is cancelled, the tuition fee will be fully refunded immediately by July 11th 2017.

Juanjo Molina is a Spanish Music Composer specialised in Film Scoring and Visual Media.

With two Masters Degrees, Juanjo is an experienced Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator & Conductor in Visual Media and Songwriter. Juanjo has scored several TV series, Feature Films, Shorts, Video Games, Commercials and original scores for Theatre shows.

Juanjo is Christopher Young’s assistant on the film scoring program.

Who is it for

People Like You
Students attending the program will require:

Enthusiasm for telling a story through music.
Experience in Music Theory, Music Composition and have DAW skills.
A laptop with a DAW installed, such as “Sibelius” or “Logic”.
The ability to speak, understand and work in English.

For your 1-1 with Christopher Young you will need the following items:

A printed short biography (500 words) covering your musical experiences.
An example of your music burned on to a CD brought to the program.
