Mostly Modern Festival Institute

The Mostly Modern Festival (MMF), June 4-8, 2018, is a brand new summer festival that celebrates the music of our time. The focus of the festival is "mostly modern": music by living composers from around the world, with occasional works from the standard repertoire. There will be four concerts a week, featuring world class ensembles, including the American Modern Orchestra, American Modern Choir, American Modern Ensemble, and guest artists.

The festival is ideally located in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY, a world-renowned destination with an award-winning downtown. New York, Boston, Montreal and Philadelphia are all within a three-hour drive. The festival takes place at Skidmore College and all the concerts are held at the Arthur Zankel Music Center.

The Mostly Modern Festival (MMF) Institute is the educational component of the Mostly Modern Festival, offering a combination of intensive one-on-one instruction and professional performance experience. The institute is robust: more than 100 students & over 20 faculty members. There will be an orchestra, a choir, 4 chamber ensembles, masterclasses, lectures, and private lessons. The Institute is open to musicians 18 and older, and welcomes participants in all stages of their career. As part of the MMF community, participants make connections that will last a lifetime.

The Festival is now accepting applications from instrumentalists, singers, conductors and composers.
