Davidson Symphonic Band Composition Contest
Davidson Symphonic Band is pleased to present the first annual Composition Contest for wind ensemble. Davidson Symphonic Band consistently receives superior ratings at state assessments, and performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Florida Bandmasters Association Conference. Some repertoire from our last couple of years:

First Suite in Eb – Gustav Holst
El Camino Real – Alfred Reed
Award: The winner of this competition will have their piece premiered (and recorded) by the Davidson Symphonic Band at our spring concert, Tuesday, May 1st in Mobile, AL. All pieces will be read by the band at a March rehearsal. A winner will be chosen by a committee (with 10% of the vote from the wind ensemble) and up to two honorable mentions will be awarded (and may be performed at later concerts).
Submission Criteria:
1. Medium- Wind Ensemble standard instrumentation. No bari sax, contrabass cl.
2. Duration- 2-5 minutes, grade 3 work, no arrangements.
3. Limit- two entries per composer ($10 per entry)
4. Entry Fee- A non-refundable entry fee of $10 is due with submission.
