InEnsemble Call For Scores

InEnsemble is thrilled to announce its first call for scores.

We are looking for good sounds for our upcoming festival which will be held in Rostov-on-Don, Russia during May and June 2018 (exact dates are yet to be defined).

We are in urgent need for pieces of music which:
- feature clear and accessible (but not too much mainstream pop) musical language;
- say important things or ask strong questions about sounds, or music, or art, society, nature, life, the universe and everything;
- do not contain extreme troubles for performers, but also not too primitive (by the way, that's not a simple exercise to write a truly primitive music, so we promise that if you try we at least will study your attempt with much curiosity).

Duration: approximately 5-15 minutes (this frame is not strict, and if we fall in love with your piece, we won't reject it just because of timing issues).

Instrumentation: 1-3 instruments from the following list:
- Piano or synthesizer (you can choose from Korg M50, Korg X50, Korg K61P, Novation Mininova, Casio CDP-130),
- Guitar (acoustic or electric),
- Bayan (i.e. russian accordion with chromatic button right-hand manual),
- Flute (concert soprano flute only, no piccolo, alto or bass flute substitutions please),
- Violin,
- Viola,
- Cello,
- Soprano voice.

Electroacoustic compositions (live instruments with electronics) are also possible.
We accept pre-recorded audio files or MaxMSP patches.
If you have any technical questions, please write us at

Style/genre is left to the composer’s discretion.
All types of scores are possible, from fully notated ones to aleatoric, improvised, graphic (with clear instructions) or text scores.

Compositions may have been previously published, performed or awarded.
Unfortunately, we can't afford to rent performance materials from publishers, so all the copyright/performance rights questions have to be cleared by composers themselves.

There are no restrictions with regard to age, gender, race, nationality, religion, political views or career stage.
Submissions shouldn't be anonymous.

You can submit your works by sending us an e-mail to
Please fill the subject line this way: InEnsemble Call For Scores — Your Name.

We accept payment through PayPal to
You can submit unlimited number of scores, provided that you’ve paid entry fee for each piece separately.

The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2018.

The submissions will be reviewed by the members of InEnsemble.

Selected composers will be notified by April 15, 2018.
Please have all the performance materials (parts, instructions etc.) prepared by that date so you could provide them on request.

The concert will be recorded. All selected composers will receive audio/video recordings of their compositions.
We can't give you any financial support to cover your travel of accommodation expenses but will be glad to see you at the concert if you decide to attend it anyway.

If for some reason your piece is not selected this time, we will probably want to include your music in our next projects.
So let's stay in touch. We are open for any contacts and are happy to maintain creative and productive relationships.

If you still have any questions, feel free to email us at

InEnsemble is a Rostov-on-Don based art association focused on performing contemporary and non-mainstream music.
We play mostly minimal music, however we are open to any kind of sounds ranging from early music to the most recent experimental projects.
In the last 2 years we have made over 20 world and local premieres.
This year we are expanding our repertoire and willing to build inventive collaboration with like-minded persons.

With this call for scores we intend to enhance international collaboration among musicians and introduce contemporary music from different parts of the world to local audience.
