International Young Composers Academy Ticino Musica

The International Young Composers Academy aims at strengthening the collaboration between composers, performers, directors and ensembles. This year’s guests are:

Description of the composition masterclass:

-world premieres of participants by the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart
-one to one lessons with guest composers
-lectures and seminars by guest composers and participants presentations
-masterclass with the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart on vocal writing

As the International Young Composers Academy keeps exploring the engaging and diverse possibilities of music making, focus of the 2018 edition will be composing for vocal ensemble. Selected participants will be asked to write vocal works for up to six vocal soloists to be premiered in Ticino during the Festival Ticino Musica. Moreover, each participant will benefit of dedicated and coached rehearsals and up to four hours of individual lessons as well.

Guest composers will hold lectures and the participants will have the chance to publicly present their work. A roster of five renown Swiss composers will contribute to the academy participating to the diverse dynamic of the workshop.

Pre-application without enrolment fee. Deadline: April 10th, 2018. A jury composed by members of the Neuevocalsolisten Stuttgart, Oscar Bianchi and Bernhard Gander will select the admitted participants.

The names of the admitted active participants will be announced by the end of April. They will have to complete the enrolment by May 15. The course fee is CHF 790.-. If desired, the payment may be made in two installments: a CHF 250.- non-refundable application confirmation fee, to be paid before 15 May 2018, and the remaining CHF 540.- before the beginning of the course.
